Steve Kramer Blog 2/3/24 – UNRWA – Ugh!

UNWRA must be revoked!

I’ve written about the execrable United Nations numerous times, including the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNWRA). This agency’s mission is supposedly to, “provide assistance and protection for registered Palestine refugees.” There’s a failure to emphasize UNWRA’s primary motive for existence: to prolong the situation of despair and belligerency for the never ending generations of the so-called Palestine refugees. It’s certainly not to better the life of the Palestinian Arabs, who are simply a means to an end: the destruction of Israel.

Right now UNWRA is facing a reduction in the largesse it is usually granted (more than $1 billion/year) primarily by the US. Suddenly it’s been discovered that many of the terrorists who participated in the 10/7 slaughter are UNWRA employees. Israelis have known about this for ever.

I planned to write yet another article about UNWRA, including castigating the “former newspaper,” The New York Times, for ignoring the agency’s true agenda, when I heard Dan Senor’s podcast of this week. Senor is an American-Canadian journalist, writer, and analyst. He co-wrote The Start-up Nation with his brother-in-law Saul Singer in 2009. Practically coinciding with the horrendous war in Gaza, the duo’s new book, The Genius of Israel: The Surprising Resilience of a Divided Nation in a Turbulent World, was released. I haven’t read it yet but I’m told it’s as much of a blockbuster as The Start-up Nation.

Dan also runs an excellent podcast mostly about Israel and Jewish interests entitled Call Me Back. During this ongoing Gaza war, Dan has invited Haviv Rettig Gur, an Israeli journalist born in Jerusalem to American parents, to converse each week about the dire situation. Gur writes primarily for The Times of Israel and is a popular lecturer in Israel and abroad.

When I heard their conversation on June 29th, I decided that I couldn’t do better than to send the link to Gur’s stellar explanation of the UNWRA. I encourage all of my readers to take an hour (or listen while engaged in something that doesn’t require your full attention) to profit from their exchange. You may decide to become a regular listener to Call Me Back, as I now am.
